Colours in the Dark is an experimental dance moving-image work with documentary and social elements that explores my female lineage's intergenerational trauma through my poetry and storytelling of my grandmother originating in the socio-political climate of the Communist regime in the Czech Republic during the 20th century. It is both a personal and political portrait that speaks about domestic violence and the history of violence, inviting its viewers to reflect on the interconnection of these two. It delves into timely questions relating to personal healing and the cultivation of hope in hostile environments, striking a balance between grief and resilience, empathy, and the desire to reclaim power and agency.
